ISLAM is now the largest religious affiliation among students in Vienna’s public compulsory schools. 🇦🇹

In the 2025/26 school year, 42% of pupils identified as Muslim, compared with 33% belonging to Christian denominations and 23% with no religious affiliation.

In Vienna’s middle schools, the Muslim share rises to 49.4%, according to data from the Vienna Education Directorate cited by the Austrian Integration Fund (ÖIF).
