NHRC member Priyank Kanoongo has directed police action on a complaint against struggling actress Swara Bhaskar over her remarks on the Jauhar scene in Padmaavat.

The complainants allege her comments glorified jihadi criminals and insulted Mata Padmavati and women’s dignity.

Bhaskar instead of apologising, later clarified that she never called Rani Padmavati or the women who performed Jauhar “cowards.”
