A true-blue Mohun Bagan supporter, he would even make time to watch the Mariners in the Maidan, while his admiration for club legend Chuni Goswami was well known.
His green-and-maroon allegiance was so strong that he initially refused to wear an East Bengal jersey for Saptapadi, agreeing only after Suchitra Sen personally persuaded him.
