Some of it cools and solidifies beneath the Earth’s surface, creating different types of igneous intrusions.

🪨 Sill – Forms parallel to existing rock layers.
🪨 Dike – Cuts across rock layers, usually vertically.
🪨 Laccolith – Lifts the overlying rocks into a dome shape.
🪨 Batholith – The largest intrusive body, formed deep underground over millions of years.

Each intrusion records a different pathway that magma took beneath the Earth’s crust—long before erosion revealed it at the surface.
