Not being emotionally attached to certain aspects of your characters helps you be a better writer since it's easier for you to let go and you NEED to let go if you want to improve on a character
Because arbitrarily and arrogantly marrying yourself into ideas is gonna cause you to not be able go let go of ideas that JUST doesn't work, nor does it let you explore ideas that would work, MUCH, MUCH better for that character
And it's NOT just a writing thing same goes with design 😭 shawn deadass didn't need to be skinny for that many years but i was worried about changing it cause i was attached to him as he was and it was holding me back from thinking of a design that JUST suits him better than he ever was
