"Kick the Bucket"
This phrase is a euphemism for dying.
Picture a farmer milking a cow. He's almost done when the cow suddenly decides to kick out its leg, knocking over the bucket of milk. The farmer, in his frustration, shouts, "Well, there goes the bucket!" Later, this phrase took on a more somber meaning when people humorously started saying someone had "kicked the bucket" when they passed away, as if life had spilled out just like that milk.
