Minutes of the Meeting The following points were discussed and agreed upon during the meeting: 1. Updated Goal of the Book Club The goal of the book club is to bridge the distance between authors and readers by creating a space for meaningful interaction, discussion, and engagement around books. 2. Recorded Discussions and Social Media Visibility Members will be encouraged to turn on their cameras and actively participate in discussions. The sessions may be recorded and shared on platforms such as YouTube and Instagram to increase the visibility of the book club and its discussions. This may also help us build a stronger connection with authors and publishers. 3. Wider Scope of the Book Club The scope of the club will be kept broad. We will explore different genres, literary traditions, and books from different countries, rather than limiting ourselves to a particular type of literature. 4. Formation of a Core Committee We will form a core committee of 8–10 active members. Members of the committee should be regular and actively involved in the club so that the activities and functioning of the book club can be managed smoothly. 5. Writing and Publishing Book Reviews Since we have already been discussing books, members are encouraged to begin writing book reviews. For reviews, we can preferably select recently published books so that there is a possibility of publishing the reviews in academic journals, literary journals, or reputed international magazines. 6. Translation and Creative/Academic Writing Members can also work on translations of short stories and other literary pieces. Those who are writing their own creative or academic pieces are welcome to share them with the group. Where possible, we can collectively explore opportunities to publish these works. 7. Rotational Hosting of Meetings We will introduce a rotational hosting system. Members who are regular and actively participate in the meetings will be given an opportunity to host the next meeting. This will encourage greater participation and give members experience in facilitating literary discussions. 8. Host Announcement and Promotion A simple post or pamphlet announcing the next host and meeting may be prepared and circulated through our social media platforms, subject to the host's consent. This will also help create continuity and visibility for the club's activities.
