کرنل لینوکس ۷.۱ به احتمال زیاد از extended attributes (xattr) روی سوکتها پشتیبانی خواهد کرد.
این قابلیت (توسعهیافته توسط Christian Brauner) به GNOME و systemd اجازه میدهد اطلاعات اضافی (مثل پروتکل ارتباطی) را مستقیم روی سوکتهای AF_UNIX بگذارند؛ مثلاً:
- Varlink در GNOME برای IPC بدون بروکر
- systemd-journald برای تشخیص فرمت لاگ (/dev/log)
- فیلتر کردن ترافیک با eBPF در کانتینرها
پچها آماده شده و احتمالاً در دوره merge آوریل ۲۰۲۶ وارد لینوکس ۷.۱ میشود (اگر مشکلی پیش نیاید).
