𝗞𝗵𝗮𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗵 (238) Ruling on Borrowing Money from Someone Whose Wealth Is Mixed with Halal and Haram Question: The respected Shaykh (may Allah preserve you), I wanted to borrow some money from a person, but his wealth is a mix of lawful and unlawful income. I was also told that he does not pray, although I am not certain about that. Is it permissible for me to borrow money from him? Sheikh Salih Al-Fawzān hafidhahullah: There is nothing wrong with that, as long as you do not know that the specific money is unlawful. You may borrow from him, buy from him, and sell to him. The Prophet ﷺ used to eat the food of the Jews and buy from them, even though they dealt in usury (riba). This is because not all of their wealth came from usury—they also had lawful wealth. So, there is no problem with it. Source: https://t.me/khawaaaaatir/353
