About the Role
Première Urgence Internationale (PUI) is seeking qualified Medical Doctors to manage the day-to-day clinical care of patients with Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and medical complications at its Stabilization Centers in Katsina and Monguno. The role involves clinical supervision, team management, monitoring, reporting, and coordination with health and nutrition stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct daily ward rounds and oversee the clinical management of SAM patients according to approved protocols.
* Monitor vital signs, medication, feeding, investigations, and other required medical procedures.
* Handle emergencies, including resuscitation, and make appropriate admission and referral decisions.
* Supervise SC Nurses, Nurse Assistants, and other relevant staff to ensure quality patient care.
* Plan staff schedules, provide mentoring and on-the-job training, and support capacity building.
* Monitor daily SC activities and ensure compliance with national and international guidelines.
* Compile, analyze, and submit weekly and monthly activity reports.
* Ensure proper availability, storage, and use of medicines, medical supplies, and nutrition commodities.
* Support planning and establishment of Stabilization Centers, including facility setup and staff recruitment.
* Coordinate with PHCs, tertiary facilities, MoH, WHO, project partners, and other stakeholders.
* Collaborate with OTP and IYCF teams to strengthen overall nutrition activities.
* Ensure patients, caregivers, and community members are treated respectfully.
Requirements
* Qualified and registered Medical Doctor from a recognized university.
* Valid practicing license from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
* Minimum 2 years of progressive experience in a similar role as an SC Physician.
* Experience with CMAM programmes and humanitarian organizations is an advantage.
* Good command of English and Hausa; Kanuri is an added advantage.
* Proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
* Demonstrated understanding of Ministry of Health (MoH) systems and structures.
