Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited today (Wednesday, 2 September 2026) an IDF outpost near the Yellow Line in the Gaza Strip, together with the Chief of the General Staff, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir; Commander of the Southern Command, Maj. Gen. Yaniv Asor; and Commander of the 99th "HaBazak" Division, Brig. Gen. Elad Tzuri.

The Prime Minister received a briefing from the commanders in the field on the activity of IDF forces in the Yellow Line area, on the operational missions in the sector, and on the effort to remove threats and maintain the security of the forces and the communities.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

"I am here inside the Gaza Strip with the Chief of the General Staff, the Commander of the Southern Command, and our heroic commanders and soldiers. We control the area here.
You can see Ashkelon right there, you can see all our communities from all directions: Sderot, Netivot, the kibbutzim.

We control the area. We are not withdrawing. We remain on this line.

We control 60% of the Strip, and there is more to come because we are eliminating the terrorists who threaten us, we are doing that day in and day out.

Yesterday we took Hamas's "Head of Shin Bet" [chief of internal security service]. We will surely learn a few things.

But we are doing everything to reach our goal: the disarmament of Hamas and the demilitarization of Gaza. Gaza will no longer pose a threat to Israel.

This goal has actually been achieved to a large extent, and there is more work to complete – and we will complete it.
