At least two lawyers are calling for changes to legislation governing adverse possession, commonly referred to as “squatter’s rights.”
They argue that the current law makes it too easy for individuals to eventually acquire land rights they do not legally own.
One of them is veteran attorney Bert Samuels, who believes the law encourages what he describes as lazy and mischievous behaviour.
