On what's weird?
In one of Sindbad's tales, he loses all his money, and arrives at a distant kingdom from Baghdad, goes and speaks with the king, and the latter offers him shelter and a job as a scribe.
Then he even gets married! Things are going well so far, until one day one of his friends dies, he goes to the funeral and sees his wife sobbing unnaturally, like she was tearing herself up, he knew why later, in this kingdom, a surviving spouse shall be buried alongside the dead!
Is there any such thing as objective weird? Like an act that you see and go like: man that's WEIRD, but with the agreement of some invisible law that convicts the WEIRD sentence?
In Western countries it's unusual to the point of disgust to marry a cousin, in Arab countries it's a tradition, foods are vastly different as well between the east and the west, and there are many many other examples.
In the fantasy novel that I am reading now, it's so weird for a male to read! Like reading is a female thing, and by reading I mean any form of reading or the ability to read itself.
From all these far-fetched examples that I brought, do you see the trend? Imitation.
So I don't think there's an objective weirdness, rather a societal one, for people imitate and accept what their ancestors did generally, through repetition, we inherit behaviors, and then we do them again and again until they are part of us.
Of course, there's more to the story than imitation: religion, power structures, fear, but imitation is a huge part of it,
And there's a line between weird and harmful, I'm only talking about weirdness as a social judgment.
I want to say though, the more there's a difference between you and the "weirdest" person that is acceptable in society, the better it is for you, even if you despise everything about them, for their very existence gives you the privilege to be more fitting with the norms, and the victory in calling them different, because maybe if they didn't exist YOU might be the weirdo.
But no no I have a personal answer, a society where all of its people look and think the same?
That's my objective "weird".
