Pranos Fusion has unveiled Pragya, an experimental tokamak that will help scientists study and control the extremely hot plasma needed for fusion energy.
The platform is expected to:
• Run around 3,000 experiments every year.
• Test high-temperature superconducting magnets and other fusion technologies.
• Generate long-term data on how plasma behaves and can be controlled.
• Train the next generation of Indian fusion scientists and engineers.
Pranos is also working towards PraniQ, a net-gain fusion reactor targeted for 2030.
The bigger significance? Fusion research in India is beginning to see a private-sector push, alongside the country’s established government-led programmes and its participation in projects such as ITER.
