US Treasury Doubles Long-Bond Buyback Size Starting Sept 9 2026
The US Treasury will at least double its liquidity support buyback operations for long-term bonds (10-20yr and 20-30yr sectors) โ from $2B to at least $4B per operation.
This runs through Nov 4, 2026, when Treasury will announce future buyback sizes at the next Quarterly Refunding.
Reason: strong market demand for these long-dated securities.
