What happens when someone clicks the link
Telegram opens straight to the channel, post, or bot — no in-between pages, no sign-in. If there's no app, the person isn't left with nothing: channels and posts open right on TG.ME, everything else opens in Telegram Web.
What can become a short link
Any Telegram object: a channel or group, a post, a user, a bot, a mini app, an invite to a private chat, a sticker pack, an emoji set, a theme, wallpaper, or a chat folder. You can't build a link to an outside site — and that's on purpose.
Why we don't shorten links to any site
Link shorteners are the main phishing tool: a fake page hides behind the short address, so such services get blocked wholesale, honest links included. Ours only leads to Telegram — you can't redirect anyone elsewhere through it, which is why the links stay alive.
The service is in beta — here's what that means
Everything described above works right now. Beta means we're still building: custom short codes, a public API, deeper analytics. We're not planning breaking changes — links you've already made will keep working forever.
