168,778 live births were recorded in the Ukrainian government-controlled areas of Ukraine last year, the lowest number on record.
For comparison, 100 years ago in 1925, with a similar population of roughly 29 million, 1,246,000 births were recorded in Soviet Ukraine.
Only 366 births have been recorded in the Ukrainian-controlled areas of the Kherson region.
Dnepropetrovsk, Zelensky’s home region, recorded the highest number of deaths in the entire Ukraine in 2025, at over 52,000.
This figure excludes a significant number of soldiers officially listed as missing in action, many of whom are presumed dead.
