Malek Mohammad is a king whose daughter is this weird, man-eating creature. So, trying to get rid of her, he hits the road and heads toward Chehel Gis Khanom’s house.
On the way, a dervish tells him how to get past a lion, a camel, and a cat. When Malek Mohammad finally reaches Chehel Gis Khanom’s place, she’s asleep. He grabs her hair and swears her to a promise. And since Chehel Gis Khanom can’t break an oath, she’s forced to marry him.
From then on, Chehel Gis Khanom becomes Malek Mohammad’s wife. They go hunting together, have fun, and live a pretty peaceful life.
Until one day, Malek Mohammad starts missing his parents and decides to go see them. Before leaving, he puts two bitter oranges in a bowl of water and tells Chehel Gis Khanom:
“My love, if those oranges ever sink to the bottom, send the little lions after me.”
She’s like, “Got it. Don’t worry.”
And sure enough, when things go south and Malek Mohammad finds himself in danger, Chehel Gis Khanom remembers the oranges and sends the little lions to save her husband.
And they show up just in time to save him.
In this story, Chehel Gis Khanom isn’t just some ordinary wife. She’s loyal, powerful, and smart. She doesn’t just sit around while her husband does whatever he wants. She takes action, makes her own decisions, and helps him when he needs it.

ملک محمد، یه پادشاه که دخترش یه موجود عجیب و آدمخواره، برای اینکه از دست این دختر خلاص شه، میزنه به جاده و میره سمت خونهٔ چهلگیس خانم. تو راه یه درویش بهش میگه چطور از شیر و شتر و گربه رد شه. ملک محمد وقتی میرسه که چهلگیس خانم خوابه، میرسمه موهاش رو میگیره و قسمش میده. چهلگیس خانم هم که نمیتونه قسم بشکنه، مجبور میشه تن به ازدواج بده.
از اون به بعد، چهلگیس خانم دیگه همسر ملک محمده. باهم میرن شکار، خوش میگذرونن و زندگی آرومی دارن. تا اینکه یه روز ملک محمد دلتنگ میشه برای پدر و مادرش. میخواد بره سراغشون. قبل رفتن، دو تا نارنج میذاره تو یه ظرف آب و به چهلگیس خانم میگه: «عزیزم، هر وقت این نارنجا رفتن زیر آب، بچهشیرا رو بفرست دنبال من.» چهلگیس خانم هم میگه: «چشم، نگران نباش.»
و وقتی کار از کار میگذره و ملک محمد تو خطر میافته، چهلگیس خانم یاد نارنجا میافته و بچهشیرا رو میفرسته که به داد شوهرش برسن. یعنی درست سر وقت میرسن که نجاتش بدن.
تو این قصه، چهلگیس خانم فقط یه همسر معمولی نیست. اون هم وفاداره، هم قدرتمنده، هم باهوش. نه اینکه فقط بشینه و شوهرش هر کاری دلش خواست بکنه، خودش هم دست به کار میشه، تصمیم میگیره و کمک میکنه. در واقع همهٔ ماجرا دور خودش میچرخه. تو افسانه های روستای یازن، چهلگیس خانم نماد یه زن جادویی و مستقله که هیچکس نمیتونه نادیدهاش بگیره؛ یه زن که نه تنها تسلیم نمیشه، بلکه سرنوشت رو به دست میگیره🎀
