Put simply, it's when bonds, treasury paper, real estate, gold, private credit, or other financial assets get a digital form that can be owned, transferred, and used within on-chain infrastructure.
You don't even have to look far — BlackRock is already pushing BUIDL, where US treasury paper is turned into an on-chain product. Such an asset can be held, used as collateral, built into settlements, and sold not just to banks and funds but to the crypto market, stablecoins, and DeFi. In short, they're now simply digitizing it, for convenience and to be the first to claim this turf.
🙂 And the main rule of American finance, apparently: if a crisis is inevitable, offload the assets onto retail. That's exactly why the popularity and accessibility of American markets is growing. Now you can load up on shares of American companies on crypto exchanges and even through cold wallets.
And yes, the moment all the little hamsters get their digital paper of Google, Apple, and other crap like SpaceX packed away, that's when, by all the canons, the crisis will begin 😁
