Honestly it probably does both. Good lawyers have always favored the wealthy because that's a scarcity problem, expensive labor with limited supply. AI judgment doesn't work like that, once the system exists, running a case through it costs about the same for anyone, so it should shrink that gap.
But a new one opens up: who actually knows how to work the system, how to frame evidence, structure a submission, play to whatever criteria the validators judge against. That's a skill, and skills tend to concentrate around whoever has time and resources to learn them first, like early SEO adopters versus everyone else.
So it probably closes the wealth gap and opens a knowledge gap, at least early on. Whether that's better mostly depends on how transparent the criteria are, since transparency is what turns insider knowledge into something everyone can learn.
