Ziyād ibn ʿAmr (رحمه الله) said:
«كُلُّنَا نَكْرَهُ أَلَمَ الْجِرَاحِ، لَكِنْ نَتَفَاضَلُ بِالصَّبْرِ، هَذِهِ وَاللَّهِ خَصْلَةٌ يَعْجِزُ عَنْهَا الْعِبَادُ»
“We all dislike the pain of wounds, but we surpass one another through patience. By Allah, this is a quality that people are unable to attain except by the grace of Allah.”
