| Imam Sayyid Mujtaba Husayni Khamenei grants clemency to more than 2,500 convicts on the occasion of the Prophet’s birthday:On the occasion of the blessed birth anniversaries of Prophet Muhammad (S) and Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq (A), Imam Sayyid Mujtaba Husayni Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, granted clemency to 2,577 convicts.
The Head of Iran’s Judiciary had submitted a request seeking pardons, sentence reductions, and sentence commutations for convicts sentenced by the General and Revolutionary Courts, the Judiciary Organization of the Armed Forces, and the Government Discretionary Punishments Organization (Ta’zirat).
Imam Sayyid Mujtaba Husayni Khamenei approved the request and entrusted the implementation of the clemency measures to the Head of the Judiciary.
Following the necessary review, Judiciary Chief Hojjat al-Islam Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei ordered the implementation of the pardons, sentence reductions, and sentence commutations for the 2,577 eligible convicts.
