| Message of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Imam Mujtaba Khamenei on Unity Week: (1/3)In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
“Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and those who are with him are firm against the disbelievers and merciful among themselves.”
I congratulate the noble people of Iran and the great Muslim Ummah on the blessed birth anniversaries of the Greatest Light, the Noblest of Creation, the Radiant Lamp, Allah’s Chosen One, the City of Knowledge, the Mercy to the Worlds, the Noble Messenger of Islam, Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), and his pure and noble descendant, the Divine Proof, Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq (peace be upon him).
From the moment the sun of the Seal of the Prophets rose over Makkah al-Mukarramah, the horizon of humanity’s happiness, which lies in perfect servitude and obedience to Almighty Allah, was illuminated with a new brilliance. The spirits of the prophets, the angels, and the heavenly beings rejoiced, while the devils among mankind and jinn bit their fingers in anger, regret, and grief.
For the greatest of Allah’s creation had entered this earthly world, and would soon be clothed with Prophethood and the Final Message, carrying the Great Qur’an and the mission of guiding humanity in every aspect of life, leading the great caravan of mankind toward servitude to Allah and spiritual perfection.
The life of the Prophet and his infallible successors is entirely a lesson in guidance and worship, knowledge and love, faith and jihad, life and noble character in both individual and social affairs, trustworthiness and truthfulness, dignity and honor, knowledge and action, mercy and firmness, justice and equity, and unity and brotherhood. The more these lessons are learned and practiced, the closer humanity comes to the peaks of prosperity and true happiness.
We believe that the purified soul of the Prophet of Mercy, as well as the pure souls of his successors and Divine Proofs, constantly watch over, guide, and care for the Muslims and the Islamic community. When the children of this compassionate and noble father commit mistakes, it grieves them, and when Muslims act upon his teachings and commands, it brings joy to their blessed hearts.
Today, after passing through difficult and turbulent eras and countless ups and downs since the earliest days of Islam, Islam and its followers have reached a decisive and historic stage. Muslims today have the opportunity to play a profoundly influential and history-making role.
Today is a day when the prospect of the ultimate triumph of truth over falsehood, and Islam over disbelief, is closer to reality than at any previous period in history.
The first condition for achieving this is the unity of Muslims.
The unity of Muslims in the face of global disbelief is a Qur’anic strategy and a fundamental teaching of pure Muhammadan Islam. It is not a superficial or temporary issue. Unity means that, at the level of Muslim societies, the common principles shared by all Muslims become the central foundation.
At the same time, through reasoned dialogue and while fully preserving the principles of brotherhood and companionship, and in accordance with Qur’anic teachings, efforts should be made peacefully and sincerely to transform points of disagreement into points of common understanding.
What is certain is that Muslims must make the Qur’anic principle, “Firm against the disbelievers, merciful among themselves,” the foundation of their thinking, speech, and actions in confronting global disbelief. This is how Islamic unity is achieved.
Whenever either part of this divine command disappears from the practical lives of Muslims, they too will lose the position of honor they rightfully possessed in the civilization of Islam. This is an unchanging principle.
