Why does someone else’s good news sometimes make me feel terrible about myself when they literally did nothing wrong?....People buy new things, travel or hit milestones and somehow my brain makes it entirely about me......Their win isn't an attack on my life, but my insecurities love to weaponize other peoples joy as "proof" that I am somehow lacking or falling behind.....We blame social media for being toxic, but a screen can only highlight what is already hurting underneath.
Instead of asking "why isn't it me?".....the real question should be “what unhealed part of me is feeling threatened right now?”.....Is it jealousy because I secretly desire what they have while pretending I don't?....Is seeing them celebrated just exposing my own craving to be seen?.....Someone else winning is not my failure and their light doesn't dim mine....Maybe instead of blaming the algorithm for showing highlights, we need to ask what unaddressed truth in ourselves is making us feel so small.
