The common knowledge of Peter being crucified upside down was originally written in the apocryphal book Acts of Peter, then by Eusebius and Jerome later (wonder where they learned it 🤔). Many Christians readily speak on some things that come directly from apocryphal books without even knowing it and will even say these books should not be read.
Did you know that fragments from 11 copies of the Book of Enoch were found among the Dead Sea scrolls, more than any other manuscript book? Did you know the Book of Jude quotes from the Book of Enoch and the Testament of Moses? Hebrews has a passage that links to the Martydom of Isaiah and one that ties to 2 Maccabees. Did you know there are parallels between several New Testament books and the Wisdom of Solomon? Did you know the Bible mentions the Book of Jasher more than once and other lost texts?
The apocryphal books should be read and studied. When examined with a base knowledge from the Bible, ambiguous things become clear and limited knowledge shared in the Bible is often expanded upon in a way that doesn’t contradict the Bible.
