• The IBC has also contributed significantly to banking recoveries. RBI data cited by the government shows that of ₹1,04,099 crore recovered by Scheduled Commercial Banks through various channels in 2024-25, ₹54,528 crore, or 52.4%, came through the IBC. • An IIM Ahmedabad study found that resolved firms subsequently recorded 76% growth in sales, 50% growth in total assets, 50% growth in employee expenses and 130% growth in capital expenditure. So yes, the ₹6.25 crore personal recovery in the Subhash Chandra case deserves scrutiny, particularly given the concerns raised by dissenting creditors. But turning that into “banks lent Subhash Chandra ₹22,000 crore and took a 99.97% loss” is a fundamentally misleading description of what the NCLT proceedings actually involved. The distinction between the personal guarantor, the principal borrowers, the securities available to creditors and the broader recovery process is not a technicality. It is the central fact of the case.
