Nagomu Irino, after a decade-long pursuit of a music career, returns to his family's wagashi (traditional Japanese sweets) shop, Ryokushō, in Kyoto upon learning of his father's illness. He intends to take over the family business but finds that Itsuka Yukihira, a ten-year-old girl, has been working at the shop during his absence. Nagomu's mother suggests a contest between Nagomu and Itsuka to decide who will inherit the shop, leading to a heartwarming journey of growth, tradition, and the art of making sweets.
