🗣 CFTC Fines Trump Speech Bettor
The CFTC has fined Gabriel Perez, a former White House teleprompter operator, $172,000 for placing bets on Kalshi regarding which words and phrases would appear in Donald Trump’s speeches.
Perez used his early access to speech content to gain an unfair edge, earning over $107,000 between December and February. As part of the settlement, he must return his winnings, pay a $65,000 penalty, and is banned from participating in prediction markets for three years. His cooperation with the investigation helped reduce the sanctions. Perez was initially suspended in July.
