Bill Gates warns that the "turbulent era of AI" is now here. It could eliminate entire job sectors, fuel fraud and deepfakes, lower the barrier to cyberattacks on critical infrastructure, and reshape how children grow up.
While he’d back a realistic global effort to slow AI’s advance, he doesn’t expect one—geopolitical and economic pressures are simply too powerful. In an interview with Axios, Gates stated the current trajectory carries a high risk of negative consequences, criticizing both major U.S. political parties for failing to act.
He suggests creating "jobs reserved for humans," along with taxes on robots and digital tokens, using the revenue generated from AI replacing human labor. Still, he remains hopeful about AI’s potential in agriculture, healthcare, and education.
