According to a release from the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), the USCG interdicted a vessel, the M/V Grace, as it was en route to Cuba. Per the release, the M/V Grace was interdicted in “early September” while it was traveling to Cuba carrying fuel and was employing measures characteristic of dark fleet tankers and bulk carriers. Following the interdiction, the USCG escorted the vessel to Progreso, Mexico, where the Mexican Navy conducted an inspection that “confirmed the presence of large quantities of fuel in the vessel’s ballast tanks.” 2 USCG cutters, a fixed wing aircraft, and other units were involved in the operation.
