X shuts down its creator monetization program and replaces it with a new "Original Content Rewards Program," effective September 7.Every existing creator must reapply starting September 8. Here's what changes:
- You now need 500K impressions from verified users in 90 days just to qualify.
- Only impressions from Premium subscribers count toward payouts.
- Content with a Community Note is automatically ineligible for earnings.
- Asking followers to like, reply, bookmark, follow or repost will get you removed from the program.
- Downloading and reuploading someone else's content is ineligible, even with attribution.
- Commentary and memes count as original only if they add "meaningful value" beyond what already exists.
