Polymarket switched on equity perps, Coinbase is asking permission for themThe prediction market launched perpetual futures: up to 20x leverage on crypto, stocks, indices and commodities, settled onchain. Access is international, in jurisdictions where the law permits it.
On the same day Coinbase Chief Policy Officer Faryar Shirzad said the exchange had filed notice registrations with the Securities and Exchange Commission for its derivatives venue and its broker, seeking the right to list the same equity contracts around the clock inside the United States. After that it still needs the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
Same product, different route. One flips it on overnight and works outside the States, the other walks through two agencies. Coinbase started its own equity perps back in March, but only for customers outside the US.
