Avon and Somerset Police forfeited 20.21 BTC, other cryptoassets and funds held in a bank account — £1,032,487.86 in total. The subject of the money laundering investigation has since died, and the assets were traced to darknet marketplaces that ran from 2016 to 2019 and were shut down long ago.
It is the force’s largest crypto seizure since April 2024, when UK police were given the power to freeze wallets.
