Fake LinkedIn Job Offer Costs Singapore Firm $11.8M
A fake recruiter on LinkedIn lured a Singapore-based employee through what looked like a standard hiring process — video calls, a coding test — before delivering malware onto a company device. Once inside, attackers accessed corporate systems, bypassed transaction controls, and walked away with US$11.8 million. Singapore Police Force and the Cyber Security Agency have both confirmed the incident.
The attack vector is grimly familiar: social engineering dressed up as opportunity. When the "coding test" is the payload, no firewall saves you.
