BTC is currently seeing the lowest positive-to-negative social media sentiment ratio in Santiment's history. Fear is outweighing greed by a record margin.
According to Santiment, unlike previous market cycles, investors are now also concerned about the security of cold wallets following the disclosure of a firmware vulnerability in Coldcard hardware wallets. A flaw in the wallet's key generation process made supposedly unguessable seed phrases predictable.
The attacker has reportedly stolen around $38 million. All compromised wallets were single-signature wallets, each holding more than 0.15 BTC. Many of them had remained dormant for years, with funds deposited between 2021 and 2026—a timeframe that closely matches the lifespan of the vulnerability.
