🇧🇷🤡💬⚖️ — President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) broke his silence and spoke out about the crisis in the Supreme Federal Court (STF) triggered after Justice André Mendonça advanced an investigation into the relationship between Justice Alexandre de Moraes and banker Daniel Vorcaro of Banco Master. Lula advocated for judicial reform and stated that everyone should be investigated, without anyone being shielded, “regardless of who it hurts.”

“It is clear that our political and judicial system needs profound reforms. It is essential that everyone be investigated, without anyone being shielded, regardless of who it hurts. The Brazilian people have the right to know the truth.

There are suspicions of politicians and public officials being involved. Our democracy cannot become hostage to selective leaks. Given the gravity of the moment, the Brazilian people expect the President of the Supreme Court and the Attorney General’s Office to lead the process, ensuring the integrity and trustworthiness of the investigations.”

⭐ In an attempt to distance himself from the crisis, the president said that it was under his government that the banker was arrested and his bank was liquidated. However, he did not mention that members of his government participated in the corruption scheme.

🇧🇷 Lula also criticized what he called selective leaks and said he expects Attorney General Paulo Gonet (also mentioned in the investigation) and STF President Justice Edson Fachin to lead the investigation in a way that ensures the integrity of “democratic institutions is preserved.”
