🇩🇪❌🚙 Germany’s transport minister wants to ban driving on weekends to meet climate coals unless the governing coalition passes reforms to the Climate Protection Act by July.

Germany’s ruling coalition is divided over a number of laws such as a payment card for refugees, Germany’s debt brake and trophy hunting in Africa.

The planned amendment to the Climate Protection Act wants to look at carbon emissions goals collectively not individually abandoning the sector by sector measures, thus the transportation minister warned that if the law isn’t revised, he would be “forced” to take additional measures to meet Germany’s carbon emissions targets it set for itself for 2030 and these measures include a drastic reduction in car usage.

The planned revision is subject to criticism from climate change NGOs who fear that Germany is abandoning its longstanding commitment to stopping climate change.
