🇨🇳⚡️Beijing Recognized as World Capital of Architecture for 2029
Beijing has been declared the World Capital of Architecture for 2029 by UNESCO and the International Union of Architects (UIA).
The Chinese capital was recognized for its "exceptional ability to combine one of the world's richest architectural heritages with a forward-looking approach to sustainable urban development."
The decision was made on August 5, based on the recommendation of the Joint Committee of the program. The title is awarded every three years. The city will host the UIA World Congress.
The program was established in 2020. Rio de Janeiro, Copenhagen, and Barcelona have previously received this status.
