Tesla has launched the Cybercab autonomous taxi on the roads of Texas—without a steering wheel and pedals.
Inside, there are only two seats, and instead of a conventional dashboard, there's a large screen for movies and games. Despite its compact size, engineers managed to maintain a spacious trunk.
The first 45 prototypes have already begun testing in Austin. In the future, Tesla aims to expand the service to other cities and sell Cybercabs to taxi fleets, promising to make the cost of a ride cheaper than a regular taxi—around 30–40 cents per mile.
