How beautiful is it that Allah will eagerly forgive you for the things you can't even forgive yourself for There is comfort in knowing that Allah's mercy is greater than the harshness with which we often judge ourselves. We may carry regret long after we have repented, replaying our mistakes and believing they have made us less worthy of forgiveness. Yet Islam teaches us never to despair of Allah's mercy. Remorse should bring us back to Him, not imprison us forever. Perhaps part of faith is learning to believe that if Allah is willing to forgive us, we do not have to spend the rest of our lives punishing ourselves for who we once were.
