How to start enjoying reading in English When I asked about reading in a foreign language in my stories, I got a whole list of challenges that language learners no matter how proficient they could face. So I've done my best to come up with ideas of how to make reading a pleasant pastime using the problems you mentioned: 🌚'I am not used to reading long texts' 🌞Reading can be daunting and look like a torture, especially, if you haven't developed the habit of it. Choose the book you are likely to enjoy and set a number of pages you can read a day, make a bookmark sticker if you need to. Start with 1 page a day and gradually increase the number day after day. Hence, by the end of the month you won't have noticed how you are able to enjoy the whole 30-page read. 🌚'There are many unknown words so I have to look them up in the dictionary all the time' 🌞I know that nagging feeling of not knowing exactly what each word stands for. Yet, to be able to read the book you don't need to know 100% of the vocabulary, on the contrary, reading a book entails lots of guessing, basing on your previous experience, etc. It stands to reason that you are likely to be willing to check some of them. But rather than looking up all of them while reading, take a photo or a screenshot and check the words after finishing yiur daily read. Set a limit of 1-5 words per page otherwise your reading will turn into endless word search. 🌚 'I can't plunge into the book as I skim the text' 🌞Make reading enjoyable: create a special routine during the day when you pour yourself a cup of tea or coffee, sit in a comfy armchair and put on some soothing music as a backdrop. Voila: it does the trick and here you are, having the time of your life 💫
