🪷The Middle Way
Avoiding two extremes—devotion to sensual pleasure and devotion to self-mortification—the Buddha taught a Middle Way: the Noble Eightfold Path. With right view grounded in the Four Noble Truths, intention turns to renunciation, kindness, and harmlessness. Speech and action become blameless, livelihood pure. Energy is aroused for abandoning unwholesome states and cultivating wholesome ones. Mindfulness remembers body, feelings, mind, and dhammas as they are. Collectedness is developed to steadiness and clarity. This path leads to knowledge and liberation: to disenchantment, dispassion, cessation, Nibbāna. The “middle” is not a compromise, but the direct course that avoids craving’s pull in both directions.
