🪷The Illusion of Ownership
The Buddha taught that ‘ownership’ is an illusion built on clinging to the five aggregates: form, feeling, perception, intentions, and consciousness. These arise dependent on conditions, change from moment to moment, and are not under mastery. What is impermanent, suffering, and subject to change is not fit to be regarded as “This is mine, this I am, this is my self.” When the body aches, when moods shift, when thoughts scatter, who truly owns them? Seeing the aggregates as they are—conditioned and not-self—loosens the grip of “mine.” With clinging released, the burden lightens and peace becomes possible in this very life.
