S Somnath, the former ISRO chief who retired in January 2025, has been appointed as a part-time, non-official director on the RBI’s Central Board for a four-year term. The appointment takes effect from August 20, 2026.
The Centre has also reappointed Anand Mahindra to the board for another four-year term.
