WINTERMUTE MOVES ANOTHER $98.7M IN BTC TO BINANCE
Wintermute is once again drawing attention after transferring 1,279.99 BTC worth approximately $98.68 million to Binance through 8 transactions within just 18 hours, according to Onchain Lens.The latest transfer involved 90.1 BTC (~$6.97M). More notably, Wintermute has now moved approximately 3,834.3 BTC worth $256.8M to Binance this week.
The transfers come alongside increased derivatives activity. A Wintermute-linked address has reportedly expanded its Hyperliquid short exposure to around $190.77M, including approximately $30.66M in BTC shorts.However, large exchange deposits do not automatically mean selling. As a major market maker, Wintermute may use these funds for liquidity management, hedging, arbitrage or cross-platform trading.
The key signal to watch: whether these BTC deposits are followed by actual spot selling and continued short-position increases.
If selling pressure materializes, the large BTC inflows could add short-term pressure to the market. Otherwise, this may simply be part of Wintermute’s market-making and risk-management operations.
