DES807 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT - IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR STUDENTS
Welcome to DES807 – Introduction to Community Development.
Please take note of the following important information:
* 1. DES807 IS COMPULSORY
* ✅ DES807 is compulsory for all Master’s students.
* 2. COURSE CREDIT
* ✅ It is a 1-Credit Unit course, but it is also a graduation requirement.
* 3. COMMUNITY-BASED PROJECT
* ✅ The course combines theoretical learning and practical application, culminating in a community-based project.
* 4. INDIVIDUAL OR GROUP PROJECT
* ✅ You may work individually or as a group.
* ✅ There is no fixed limit to group size. What matters is effective collaboration, clear roles, proper coordination, and documentation.
* 5. PROJECT DOCUMENTS
You will receive templates to guide your practicum, including:
* 📝 Project Proposal
* 📖 Logbook
* 📄 Final Reflection Report
* 6. NO PEN-ON-PAPER EXAM / NO TMA
* 🚫 There is no written (pen-on-paper) examination.
* 🚫 There is no TMA.
* 7. HOW YOU WILL BE GRADED
Your assessment will be based on:
* ✅ Class Attendance
* ✅ Upload of Proposal Form
* ✅ Upload of Logbook
* ✅ Upload of Final Report
* 8. E-LEARN PARTICIPATION
To participate fully in the course:
* ➡️ Log into the NOUN e-Learn platform.
* ➡️ Attend your classes on the scheduled days.
* ➡️ Participate meaningfully with your facilitator and fellow learners.
* 9. CERTIFICATE IN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
* 📜 A Certificate in Community Development is available at ₦7,500 per student.
* 10. THE PURPOSE OF THE COURSE
* Ultimately, DES807 is about becoming more responsible, responsive, and resourceful citizens, while learning how to contribute meaningfully to our communities and build communities that reflect the very best in us.
