النفس تبكي على الدنيا وقد علمت
The nafs cries over the dunya while it knows
إن السعادة فيها ترك ما فيها
That happiness in it is by abandoning what is in it
لا دار للمرءِ بعد الموت يسكنها
There is no home for a person after death
إلَّا التي كان قبل الموت بانيها
Except the one he built before death
فإن بناها بخيرٍ طاب مسكنهُ
If he builds it upon goodness then pleasing his settlement will become
وإن بناها بشرٍّ خاب بانيها
And if he builds it upon evil then he will be corrupted
