Lego did a study. they gave girls and boys figures. boys become the figure they play with. if they play with batman they become batman. girls make the figure a projection of themselves. so if they play with batman, batman goes shopping or has a tea party.
Male developers make a game where you inhabit a character.
Female developers make a game where you have to make the character do the same dumb shit you have to do every day.
This is why the sims was so popular with girls.
A man playing some vidya to escape his daily grind finds a vidya designed by women to put him right back into his daily bullshit. not only does he have to listen to his real gf complain about him not taking out the trash, now his vidya game gf will do the same.
