GAMMA SQUEEZE: Why Gold Prices Will Hit $7,500 in 2027

▪️ Gold already printed $5,589 in January 2026, then fell 11.4% the next day and 27% into July. The squeeze is real, and so is the round-trip.
▪️ GVZ hit 46 at the exact record high. Volatility spiking into a top is panic call-buying, the fingerprint of a gamma squeeze.
▪️ The mechanic: traders buy calls, dealers go short gamma, they must buy as price rises, that lifts price, that forces more buying. Self-reinforcing.
▪️ In reverse it forces selling. That is all the 11.4% crash was, the loop running backward.
▪️ The fuel is bigger now. US debt crossed $40T, the 30-year yield hit a 19-year high of 5.32%, and the Treasury is stepping in to cap the long end.
▪️ A 1% rotation out of Treasuries is about $310B, roughly 2,096 tonnes, or 57% of a full year of mine supply.
▪️ That is 1.8x all COMEX futures open interest. Too big for futures, so it spills into options, the exact channel that arms the squeeze.
▪️ Higher vol muffles the punch. Gamma falls as vol rises, so the next squeeze needs volatility to compress first. Calm is the fuse.
▪️ For 2026, $5,000 is the pivot now, not the ceiling. Base case $5,200 to $5,800, a retest of the January record.
▪️ For 2027, base case runs $6,500 to $7,500, squeeze above $8,000. That $7,500 sits between JPMorgan's $6,300 and BofA's $8,000, no longer a fringe call.
