🤖 AI battlefield medical tools aim to replace the missing medic

Ukrainian and US teams are developing AI tools to guide wounded troops through trauma care when no medic is available. The Ukrainian app ALICE, built by trauma surgeon Roman Kuziv, uses Google's Gemini platform to let soldiers photograph injuries, answer follow-up questions, and receive combat casualty care guidance. It includes separate modes for medics and non-medics, plus voice prompts for high-stress situations.

The US counterpart, FieldCare GPT, is being developed at the University of Pittsburgh and is designed to work fully offline — critical when troops can't access the internet or radio. Both tools respond to drone-shaped battlefields pushing troops into small, dispersed teams far from medical care.
